Pearl Fractional is the new volumizing laser that uses proprietary technology to offer both immediate and long-term anti-aging benefits. Patients notice an immediate improvement in their complexion and fine lines around the mouth and eyes, greatly reducing the signs of aging. In the long-term, patients will see continued structural changes in their skin, including increased volume and firmness.
The Pearl Fractional Laser treats the signs of photoaging by stimulating new collagen growth. It provides dramatic improvement in a single treatment. Pearl Fractional represents the most advanced technology in fractional lasers. Unlike other fractional technologies, Pearl Fractional provides an ideal combination of volumizing results and rapid recovery.
Fractional lasers were developed in two distinct phases. The first generation of fractional lasers were non-ablative and improved superficial skin imperfections with 4 to 6 treatments. In 2007, the second generation ablative fractional lasers were introduced applying CO2 technology - a change that achieved deep dermal effects and more dramatic results. However, the downside to CO2 is the risk of excessive thermal damage.
To improve upon current devices, Pearl Fractional's unique 2790 nm wavelength was developed optimizing the ratio of ablation to coagulation—while controlling thermal damage.
Pearl Fractional is a new fractional ablative laser with YSGG (2790 nm wavelength) technology. This exclusive laser wavelength was selected to maximize results and safety while minimizing downtime — all in a single treatment — through an optimized combination of ablation and coagulation. Pearl Fractional's YSGG laser aggressively treats the signs of photoaging, deep dermal imperfections and difficult to treat perioral (around the mouth) and periorbital (around the eyes) areas. Pearl Fractional presents fractional ablation in a new light.
Pearl Fractional is a new volumizing fractional laser perfected for photoaging in just one treatment. Pearl Fractional offers the best combination of patient experience and recovery time. Patients will see improvements in photodamage, tone and texture as well as a noticeably smoother, brighter complexion.
Fractional therapy describes a treatment that affects only a fraction or small percentage of the skin. With Pearl Fractional, laser pulses place tiny holes deep in the skin. Columns of damaged tissue are selectively removed, leaving surrounding skin intact.
The treatment shortens healing time and stimulates the body’s own natural process for creating new collagen, plumping the skin from below and reversing photoaging and other imperfections.
Optimal treatment results demand both deep ablation and thermal coagulation. Moderate levels of coagulation are needed to minimize operative bleeding, but healing times and related risks of complications increase with excessive zones of thermal coagulation. Therefore, the ideal device combines deep ablation with controlled thermal coagulation to maximize results while minimizing downtime. Due to its specific water absorption characteristics, YSGG is the only laser wavelength capable of providing the dual benefits of deep dermal ablation with a controlled zone of coagulation.
Most patients will see significant improvement after just one treatment. Occasionally a second treatment is required. As maximum results are seen after 6 months (new collagen continues to form over this period), it is typical to wait this time before considering if a second treatment is undertaken.
Patients with light-to-medium skin tones and skin imperfections due to aging and sun damage will benefit from a Pearl Fractional treatment.
Pearl Fractional can treat the entire face and is uniquely effective in the delicate periorbital (around the eyes) and perioral (around the mouth) areas. These areas often show the first signs of aging and can be the most challenging to treat.
Preparation for Pearl treatment is relatively straightforward and aimed at conditioning the skin for the treatment. The preparation is more targeted towards improving and decreasing the recovery period and optimising results. Dr Beaini is likely to prescribe you a prescription cream for this. If you have a history of cold sores, you may be required to commence an antiviral medication just prior to the procedure.
Most patients describe the treatment as a series of fast, hot pinches. There is an element of discomfort, but at Zinc Clinic, every effort is made to ensure that the procedure is as comfortable and tolerable as possible. A topical numbing cream is applied to the skin prior to treatment to alleviate some discomfort. We may choose to augment topical creams with other medications based on patient need. These would include oral pain killers, facial nerve blocks and occasionally inhaled agents similar to laughing gas.
After treatment, the skin will look and feel mildly sunburned. You will be required to frequently soak your face with a vinegar and water solution and then apply an ointment such as vasoline or paw paw on the skin for 3 – 5 days. For your convenience, Zinc Clinic will provide you with a post care kit for this period. Since you can not wear sunscreen during this time, you will need to wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure for a few days after the treatment. Once, healing is complete, you may be advised to purchase a skin care kit specifically designed to further aid with healing. Make-up may be applied at this time. To prolong the results you have achieved, a medical grade skin care regime will be recommended and tailored to your needs.
Downtime is the time spent recovering from a procedure. With social downtime you can still continue your normal daily activities. However, you may not wish to attend important social events because your face may be pink/red as the skin replaces itself. It is important that your treatment planning also includes mention of your social schedule so that procedures are planned not to clash with important events.
Many patients see improvement one week after treatment. Maximum results are visible in one to six months. Patients may apply make-up after the initial healing process is complete. Most patients heal within five days. Older patients may take a little longer to heal.
Yes, patients may choose to have a Pearl treatment followed by separate visits for 3D Skin Rejuvenation, Titan, or injectables. Pearl treatment is often combined with Limelight/IPL to better target pigmentation. You can discuss combination therapies with Dr Beaini at consultation.
Pearl Fractional’s unique laser wavelength offers a safer but intense treatment to reverse the signs of aging. This combination gives patients dramatic results in a single treatment with approximately one week of recovery.
The cost for Pearl Fractional treatment is variable and depends on the area that is treated, that is, the larger the area treated, the more cost is involved. It is uncommon to treat the whole face with this treatment but rather we target areas of concern or those areas that have more significant damage. A treatment plan and quotation will be given at the time of consultation.
